Ian and Kathleya were married in July at Shandelee Lake Inn, but 2 months prior to that photographer Hillary Harvey made her way to the Inn to photograph the  engagement couple.

The lake was a short walk through some beautiful woods, and when we got there, it was breath-taking.  This is where we’ll do some pictures of Ian and Kathleya alone on their wedding day.

To view the entire gallery of photos from Hillary’s shoot you can visit her blog here.

Shandelee Lake Inn. This hip, chic, and stylish country inn is just mere miles from the original site of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. Many newbies do not know that the festival didn’t actually happen in Woodstock. One month before the planned date of the festival, August 15th 1969, the venue was changed to the farm of Max Yasgur, a 600 acre dairy farm in the town of Bethel.

In a recent post to Rock ‘n’ Roll bride, their editor Kat highlighted a simulated Woodstock style wedding:

This hippy chic, picnic stylee wedding with a woodstock vibe is nothing short of phenomenal. Finding amazing hidden gems like this has got to be one of my favourite things to do. I feel as though I have unearthed a complete treasure. (Read the entire post at Rock N Roll Bride)

Melissa Mazzei & the staff of chez vous caterers teamed up with celebrity party planner David Tutera to cater Nicole & Dwayne’s Monte Carlo inspired wedding at the Prince George Ballroom in nyc.

What better way to celebrate a Monte Carlo themed wedding than by having chez vous a French catering company owed by an Italian family cater the wedding.

A few months ago, we explained in detail about the team-up and event.

Well now the time has come for the show to air.

On June 18th, on the We network, you can finally catch the episode of My Fair Wedding (with celebrity party planner David Tutera) that features a collaboration with chez vous catering.

On April 30th, Shandelee Lake Inn was host to the 2010 Mike Levine Workshop on new media for the second year in a row, as well as being catered by chez vous.

The conference is a way for new journalists to learn and get a feel for the direction their field is taking.

From the differences between “saving print media” vs. “saving journalism” to the use and importance of using social networks as a key tool in the new media landscape to help brand yourself and remain a vital part of the grander media conversation in an ever changing and never stopping news cycle.

One of the prominent speakers at the event was Ass. Professor at Arizona State University and member of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism Leslie-Jean Thornton, Ph.D.

Prof. Thornton spoke of the importance of, specifically, Twitter and how It’s ability to provide snap citizen journalism will, and has already, become a key component in the new media landscape.

She also spoke of how an upstart company like Twitter began with a group of friends in 2007 and has now become one of the most-used websites on the net and sought after by investors for millions of dollars.

The overall tone of the event was that of blazing your own trail.

Guest speakers like Meg McGuire, Ellen Levine, Barbara Gref, Kristy Gray, Joan Garrett, Beth Brelje, Howard Frank, Gittel Evangelist, Doyle Murphy, Rachel Dickinson, Mary Ann Bragg, Cara Solomon, among others in the profession, echoed the sentiment that the news media is changing.

Not for the better or worse, but for new crops of journalists to figure out how to navigate it.

chez vous is French for, at your home or as we say in catering, at your location of choice. For over 25 years chez vous has been catering to the hip & stylish when celebrating their weddings and important events.

Monte Carlo lies in the French Riviera on the Mediterrean Sea coastline in the south east corner of France. It neighbors with Italy.

When creating a Monte Carlo menu, elegance and royalty are what comes to mind. What better than to start the meal with white gold, better know as Belgian Endive or French Endive.

Any Monte Carlo inspired menu would include the freshest fish from the region, a Wild Salmon will be served accompanied with side dishes from their Italian neighbor.

Dessert could have been none other than Crème Brulee topped with Italian Biscotti & Fresh Raspberries.

Your Reception should have a little Drama

Your reception should have a little drama…not the kind where your Aunt Julie decides to fight with your Uncle Mike, but the kind of drama that takes your breath away when you walk into the party.

Some event spaces are so lovely, they provide their own drama…beautiful chandeliers, marble floors and large windows looking out to a spectacular garden.

Unfortunately, these rooms are usually beyond the budget of many brides. Don’t despair, you and your florist or party planner can create a pretty, dramatic space for your wedding reception almost anywhere.

The key to drama is to begin with as simple a background as possible. If the walls in the reception hall are an unacceptable color, or are too “busy” with unattractive artwork and dreadful “views”, the best suggestion would be to order “pipe & drape” for at least 3 walls and the ceiling. This system of gathered white fabric covers everything, much like the inside of a gorgeous tent or the frosting on your wedding cake, creating a uniform background to begin your creative fun.

Lighting is one of the best dramatic tools. With “pipe & drape” you can choose your color to flood the walls and ceiling. Select your wedding color…perhaps a gorgeous raspberry shade, and you will have instant drama. Up lighting plants, the cake table, or even illuminating individual centerpieces can add additional sparkle. Don’t forget the power of candlelight….I never do a party without tons of small votive candles placed everywhere.

The centerpieces for a dramatic look don’t have to be huge, complex structures. It does help to have height, but tall, or short, one of the most powerful floral effects is to choose one variety and color of flower, and use it in abundance. For example, in our reception room we’re creating, we’ve draped the room and flooded the walls and ceiling with raspberry lighting, scattered votive lights everywhere, brought in masses of raspberry colored peonies and simply placed them in vases short or tall. We’re on track for a breath taking effect.

Choose table linens, napkins and possibly chair covers in the same color as the lighting, or this is a place to add a pop of color that makes the whole space sing!

Unless you have a real eye, it’s best to limit your color pallet to one or two shades.

These are the basics of a dramatic environment for maximum effect. Share your ideas with your florist or party planner and together you can create a magical experience for your guests.

Chez Vous caterers is very proud to announce that we’ve catered our third wedding celebration for the children of Sherman and Linda Heller. A tradition that has included the weddings of Clifford & Kathy (La Belle Epoque NYC, 09/92) and Victoria & Stephen (Shandelee Lake Inn, 07/07) now includes Russell and Heather.

Each of the aforementioned ceremonies included one of Sherman Heller’s children and each wedding has been a pleasure to work on. We anticipate catering the ceremony for his daughter Brandy which will be the fourth and final wedding, completing the superfecta!

One of the classic blunders in choosing a venue for a company seminar, or a family reunion, or an event of the like essentially boils down to the burden of inconvenience. Often times, finding the ideal venue does not include the ideal accommodations for before and after the event.  Renting a hall precludes provisions for sleeping arrangements. And renting a presentation hall in a large hotel can be pricey and such rooms are generally only available for a day at a time. [click to continue…]

In June of this year, Chez Vous Caterers, in association with the Shandelee Lake Inn, had the esteemed honor of hosting the 2009 Mike Levine Workshop; which is essentially an entire weekend fraught with journalism and activities that reflect the general beliefs and convictions of Mike Levine. Subsequent to this event, the hosts of the affair, Steve Israel (Senior Writer of the Times Herald-Record) and Chet Gordon (Staff Photographer of the Times Herald-Record), sang the praises of the lodgings and the menus. Here is what they had to say:

1969. For anyone even vaguely familiar with anything musical, 1969 was the year of the greatest music festival of all time…WOODSTOCK. Now, forty years removed from that historic event that changed the face of music forever, Woodstock’s anniversary is right around the corner. [click to continue…]
